An extensive and emotionally evocative exhibition, if you can not see it at The Getty then do make it to one of the other exhibitions in the USA. I have worked as a makeup artist on commercials and film for over fifteen years now, and while I was never fortunate enough to work with Herb Ritts, one thing I’m fairly certain of, there’s no one doing anything like this today. I’m referring to his commercials for Calvin Klein, Guess, L’ancome and other beauty and fashion houses. I mean those commercials created desire for an experience. I haven’t seen anything in over five years that does that.
Anyone interested in portrait, celebrity or fashion photography will be inspired.
I especially loved that all of the images were black and white and very high contrast.
